Good morning
As bands of rain sweep in from the south west accompanied by emails from Aptar and Nick our thoughts turn to Penzance and also to Duncan’s new email address. Whereas duncanbrown49867@bythebins.sk doesn’t quite have the cachet of ‘ibm.com’, he will always be younger than most of us which I suppose is some comfort to him at this time.
On other matters, I am especially pleased that in terms of room arrangements I am apparently ‘double rear facing’, thank you Nick, my dream position. Your umpiring will have my full support from the side line. I shall make a special effort not to wear playing colours in case I should be mistaken for a player (as if!).
In terms of weather, I fear we can only hope for enough blue sky to fashion a sailor’s suit from, or perhaps a pair of shorts Sarah, but should we have that much blue we would indeed be fortunate, I fear the worst. Indeed I imagine that after that last bit my long term forecast is quite grim.

Good evening All … Burnett.booking.com here, with all the details of your hotel rooms and costs.
Please shout if you see anything that is wrong, but the dates are based on those advised by Col or by those persons who had advised shorter or longer periods before I confirmed the final booking … that excludes you Foz. So before you ask….room allocations are generally based on first come first served, and as you can see the more expensive rooms are with a sea view or those where you can hear seagulls! … the cheaper ones tend to be those where a night-time high tide could wash around your bedroom. Also the room rate should be a bit cheaper if you’re sharing. On this point I had to make some late changes to accommodate everybody, but I don’t think anybody is sharing with a stranger … anyway no stranger than Harry’s mate who joined Col’s stag do in Nottingham.
You will see that a £25 deposit has been set against most rooms…..this will be deducted off the tour amounts paid so far and will be taken into account when we have our normal settlement. Just remember though that this £25 should be taken off your individual room bill before you settle directly with the hotel.

We’re almost there.
Time to clean between your toes and get rid of that Guernsey sand…The English Riviera is beckoning. Numbers have spiralled since our last meeting – I think there are now 33 of us (see Tourists listing above) – there must be a team in there somewhere.
Fri 17th June through to Sunday 19th.
Matches – Saturday 18th 12.30pm. Sunday 19th 2.00pm. Both are at Penzance HC.

Penzance are looking into some kind of social do…but i don’t have details of that as yet.
Kit – My assistant will be in touch about the distribution of the kit & associated apparel. I’m so glad we went for this blue colour as it will match Penzance!

Nick has been chatting to the Hotel receptionist and has arranged the sleeping rota. He’ll be sending out a rooming list separately. A couple of people arrive on the Thurs and a couple leave on the Sun afternoon, but most of us are there for the three nights. Might be worth checking when Nick send this out. Please shout if there any problems.
Meet 18.00 Lugger Hotel bar on Fri 17th June.
all done from me … see you in about 3 months time.

‘we are not amused’.

Hello
On an equally important matter, I was recently re-cataloguing my collection of pictures of Queen Victoria. Surprisingly the majority are still under ‘Q’ or ‘V’ with not much under other letters. During the course of this work, I was quite taken aback by the likeness between the dear old queen and our dear leader. Clearly the genetics of long, strong and morally correct leadership run deeply through the generations.

Hi all. The kit has arrived but there has been an error with a couple of items;
1. All the azure blue polos shirts men’s and women’s have the logo of the aardvark standing up (as used for Cork and Guernsey) I had asked for the original logo to be used this year (aardvark on all fours). I have managed to negotiate a price reduction from £11.50 to £6 per shirt.
2. Women’s long sleeve t/shirt – the same again and the price has been reduced from £9.50 to £4.50.
Hope this is ok with everyone and will let you know when it’s all ready for collection.

Stoksey
We are in touch with RW Thomas’s representatives.
However – and please treat this as confidential – as it is possible that you may see something in the media in the coming days. ‘Todge’, has tested positive for a banned substance. Its a substance he’s been taking for 45 years which helps him pass fluids and slows down recovery after physical exercise. He is co-operating fully with WADA and Marstons technical advisors right now.
We shouldn’t rush to judge though, those at the top of our game are subject to different pressures that the likes of you and I. This news is going to hit the back pages like a tsunami and he is going to get a lot of heat from his sponsors, household brands like; Reliant, Harpic and Bonio are all likely to re-assess their relationship with our esteemed founder.
We’ll have to see how that works out in the coming weeks … but if the call comes to ‘get off the bench’, then make sure you’re ready.
I know comparisons will be inevitable but if i can offer any advice, then you need to focus on being the first ‘Stokesey’ not the ‘new Todger’.
Hope that helps with your anxiety.

Is RW Thomas coming out of retirement?
By my count, we now have lots of players (some were actually quite good back in the day but I’d never tell them that of course) and am genuinely concerned about my place in the line up … 🙂
