Tol and his squire, Mayou had reached the end of the world!!
No contest … yours is the winner by a short head at least!!

I knew that if I kept looking away she would prefer the younger better looking model – and she did!

From my perspective the thought processes were …
a) “Help”
b) “Wait until I get my hands on Laura”
c) “Why is it my turn”
d) “At least I won’t be listening to this all night, like Phil and Stroppie will be”
e) “The Aardvarks owe me a lot of beer on the next tour for this”
f) “Help!!!!”
g) “Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I thought she might be saying to Tolley ‘Do you think your granddad might fancy me?’
Niall
25/06/2014 – Mel
How about:
“Tolley can I tickle your fancy”
OR
“Please don’t cover those rosy red lips, I want to nibble them off your face!”
“If you don’t let me nibble your lips, I’ll have to nibble that instead!”
Also I notice that Harry is suddenly finding his beer fascinating!

Accommodation update on behalf of our Illustrious Leader …
We jumped the gun a little by saying we’d secured accommodation. Irish hoteliers don’t make it easy to do business with them. However, we eventually persuaded Jury’s (in Cork city centre) that their raison d’etre is actually to sell hotel accommodation and, after many emails and phone calls, we’ve managed to book the necessary number of rooms. As Col said, cost is roughly 100 Euros per room per night B&B.
Bills to be settled on departure. On one of the phone calls a 100 Euro per room ‘security bond’ was mentioned, presumably in case the room gets trashed. This would be payable on arrival but is at the hotel’s discretion when they see us (so probably best to keep the likes of Tolley, Taylor and Wilks out of sight). We’ve checked and the hotel bar should be open until 1 am or later.
Rooms have been booked as follows:
Arr Thu Jun 5, Dep Mon Jun 9 (4 nights): Nick & Brenda, Col & Aptar, Dave & Jo, Cuey & Rob
Arr Thu Jun 5, Dep Sun Jun 8 (3 nights): Graham & Leisa
Arr Fri Jun 6, Dep Mon Jun 9 (3 nights): everyone else
‘everyone else’ includes 4 couples and 11 singles, as per Col’s email below.
We’ve booked 16 rooms: 9 for couples, 1 for Mel, 5 to be shared by the unaccompanied ‘gentlemen’, and 1 for any late additions (which can be cancelled if necessary).
If any of the unaccompanied ‘gentlemen’ have any preferences for a ‘roomie’, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate (the rooms sleep 3 with a double bed if you want to be really friendly …).
Trust that’s all ok. Any questions, shout up.
All you need do now is arrange your travel to the Emerald Isle. Book now and it will be relatively cheap; leave it until the last minute and it almost certainly won’t be.
Cheers

We’ve received a mysterious request from two young ladies who will be on a hen weekend and who will be staying at the Jurys Inn, (Cork), over the same weekend as out intended trip. It seems they met Harry Mayou at Jurys inn (Nottingham) during my stag weekend last year and have made a special request that he should be their ‘roomie’ for the duration of our stay.
Consequently, the Chef de Mission (accommodation) can exclusively reveal that we have secured arrangements for the duration. The cost will be 100 bit-euros per room per night inc breakfast and we plan to hand over 50 bit-euro deposit per person in a few days. Therefore if anyone has problems with that then you need to advise us before Mon 10th Feb otherwise your 50 bit-euros will be handed over to support the Celtic economy.
Will be in touch again next week sometime.

Right Ho … its all go.
The deadline for naming our nations team for Sochi has come and gone. So unfortunately we’ll have to make do with 2nd best !!
See below 29 who’ve coughed up or will have done so over this weekend. Hidden amongst those names are at least 11 and possibly as many as 17 who have either confirmed, threatened or not said no to playing … either way we should be fine.
So almost there and time to hand over to the Chef de Mission (accommodation) who will be looking to book the hotel. We plan to get a quote for the three nights Fri 6th to Sun 8th June and then we’ll email that around giving you 4-5 days notice that we’re about to spend your loot. I’ll contact the host teams and sort the unnecessary activity that is the Hockey. When we’ve done that we’ll email again confirming everything. If you want to add other Hotel nights either side, then it’ll be up to you to contact the hotel and do so.
The it will be over to the Chef de Mission (fashion & accessories), who will get started on our matching woollen cardies and scarves …
Nick & Brenda Burnett, Rob & Cuey, Dave McGuire & Jo, Tolley & Sarah, Dunc Brown, Harry Mayou & Chris, Dick Allott & Laura, Wilks, Neil Colton, Richard Knill, Stokesy, Graham Stuart & Leisa, Andy Foster, Pat Carragher, Niall Clarke, Mel Cuthbert, The Potter & Miyoko, Ade Luth, Phil Nich, Col & Aptar (29)
and still thinking … but had better make their minds up soon !! Gary Stonely, Rob Elson. plus one or two possible surprise selections.
Be in touch soon, any probs give me a ring.

OK so we’re on … Fri June 6th – Mon June 9th 2014.
Games agreed with ‘Cork Harlequins’ and ‘C of I HC’.
The main things you need to know are … assemble in hotel bar (actual hotel bar tbc) at 18.00 on Fri 6th. Games on 7th and 8th. Bugger off home on the 9th. If you want to add a few days either side of the main event, then that’s up to you.
The Chef’s de Mission (Accommodation), is Ms Cue and the beautifully turned out Mr Pates. It is they who will be negotiating a thrilling deal with the hotel, which will have a bar in which we all meet on the Friday eve (tbc), but to do that of course, we’ll need some loot to secure the rooms. The plan is to get the above 3 days booked, after that it should be a doddle to add days etc …
So can you get £75 per person lobbed into our bank account BY the end of Jan … where the Chef de Mission (investment), will cheerfully be waiting to receive your funds.
Account name: NIB / AVKS acct.
Bank: Barclays, Northwich
Sort Code: 20 – 24 – 09
Branch: 20510904
Alternatively bung a cheque in the post to him at: No. 1, Chapel Street, Moulton, Northwich, Cheshire CW9 8PN
In early Feb Ms Cue and Mr Pates will have the accommodation sorted and the Chef de Mission (Fashion), will announce the spring season styles …
As far as travel is concerned its probably going to be up to you to decide which airport and which day and make your own plans – just as long as you’re in the hotel bar (tbc) at the appointed hour. There may well be a kind of bunching effect of those travelling from Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Guernsey etc etc … buts it up to you to ‘bunch naturally’.
So wallets out please and get transferin’

[The Disillusioned Aardvarks may be interested to learn specific vocabulary and be Phil Nicholson able to talk about environmental issues. Here you can hear words like: drought, fossil fuels, atmosphere, flood, evaporation, etc. There were many attempts to try Aptar Sandhu to reconstruct the history of Tango, but the truth is that it is not known when this genre of music began and where. Tango is linked to what is black or to Africans, but it is exclusively “porteño”, from the city of Buenos Aires.
John Donnelly Some other writers Ian Tolley make their opinion saying that tango derives from other styles of music as for example, the choreography derives from the milonga, the candombe the rhythm and from the habanera the melodic line sentimental and the emotive force.
It is considered that tango began to spread around 1880. In these years the brothels were reproduced with women who came from all over the world as Spain, France, Italy, Germany and even Poland, for men also immigrants who had abandoned their families and women Robert Judd looking for possibilities in another continent. But with the passage of time the show became routine and not to bore its audience were contracted trios or different groups of musicians. It was so Derek Pittaway unsuspected success, that these shows began to be performed more frequently, in which people would join in dancing. This is supposed to have originated the tango.
It can be said that the first tangos were “Dame la can,” “El Tero” and “Walk to Recoleta”.]
Jo and I are also up for it, cheers, Dave

I have established contact with the President of Cork Harlequins HC (no less) who says he would be ‘delighted’ to welcome us in June 2013. Obviously he has never experienced Wilks singing but assuming we can keep that quiet until then, it does seem to add a little certainty to that date.

SUPER TOP PRIORITY MESSAGE !!
Puedo tener dos huevos para el desayuno, pero mantener todas las frutas, ya que causa estragos en mi viento …
[I can have two eggs for breakfast, but keep all the fruit as it wreaks havoc on my wind]
However, after much pleading from ‘she who must be obeyed’, and a few slobbery comments from Allott who would just like more Guinness than he can handle, what about a long weekend in Cork next June?
Same plan as Amsterdam and Bruges … probably 3 nights over a long weekend and a couple of games against old farts collegians and the local distillery XI – Tolley apparently has contacts.
Looing at the diary, I’m thinking Fri 6th to Mon 9th June as first choice, with the previous w/e (30th May – 2nd June) as back-up, but I’m trying to steer clear of Whit holiday week. Interested?
Then why not share those innermost thoughts with us all … and in the meantime I’ll email Tolley’s mates and see what reaction I get. They might just tell us to bugger off.
If it looks like there are enough of us and another 11 old and knackered hockey players in Cork just waiting for an opportunity like this – then who knows …
I’ll get back to everyone in about 10 days from now …
WOW! Estoy realmente expresarme !! [WOW! I’m really expressing myself]
